Executive Board

The Executive Board of Flughafen Bern AG consists of Urs Ryf (CEO), Martin Leibundgut (CFO) and Andreas Seitz (COO).

Urs Ryf - Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

Urs Ryf (born 1965), has been Chief Executive Officer at Flughafen Bern AG since July 2019.

He began his flying career in 1983 with flight training courses in Belpmoos. He than became a professional military pilot with the Swiss Air Force, where he gained leadership experience and was also chief flight instructor F-5, squadron commander on F/A-18 and general staff officer. He then joined Skyguide as project manager for the integration of civil and military air traffic control, and was COO from 2006 to 2012. He then worked for seven years as an independent management consultant in Switzerland and abroad. Urs Ryf holds a masters degree in economics from the University of Bern and an aviation MBA from Concordia University in Montréal.

Martin Leibundgut - Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

Martin Leibundgut (born 1966) has been Chief Financial Officer (CFO) since 1993, a member of the Executive Board and Vice Director since mid-2007. He also manages the subsidiary BM Dienste AG as CEO.

He was previously CFO of Klopfstein Unternehmensgruppe, Laupen. He has a commercial education with a specialist certificate in accounting.

Andreas Seitz - Chief Operating Officer (COO)

Andreas Seitz (born 1970) has been a member of the Executive Board as COO since 2023. He had previously carried out these duties in a deputy capacity from 2020. Until he joined Flughafen Bern AG in 2017, he was in charge of the Belp office of the Swiss Air Force, the so-called "Bundesbasis".

He is an EASA Part 66 licensed aircraft mechanic and a part-time aviation safety investigator for the Swiss Transportation Safety Investigation Board (STSB).

Extended Executive Board

The extended Executive Board comprises two members - Sandro Hofer and Ramon Leibundgut.

Sandro Hofer - Safety & Compliance Monitoring Officer

Sandro Hofer (born 1967) has many years of experience in the aviation sector. He trained as an air traffic employee with Swissair, where he worked in cargo operations and load control in Geneva and London before he joined Bern Airport in 1993, where he worked as Duty Manager Ground Services and as an instructor of load control and dangerous goods. Since 2015, he has been in charge of the Safety & Security Office and Compliance Monitoring at the airport.

Ramon Leibundgut - Deputy COO

Ramon Leibundgut (born 1990) has been Deputy COO since February 2024. From May 2019 to January 2024, he was Head of Ground Services at Bern Airport.

After completing a commercial apprenticeship with the Swiss Air Force, he started his career in 2011 at Bern Airport, where he was able to gain experience in various areas of ground handling. From 2016 to the end of 2018, he worked as Project Manager Sales at Pilatus aircraft. He returned to Bern Airport in the beginning of 2019. In addition to his higher business diploma, he has a degree as a federaly certified leadership expert.
